Course Description

Bible 110 – Old Testament I: Historical Literature (3 credits) – Section 01

This course surveys the narrative literature of the Old Testament, stretching from Genesis to Esther. Students will not only engage with the historical plot of the Old Testament but also dive into the theological themes that weave throughout these books. The class will also emphasize motifs of Christ that find their seeds in the Old Testament, coming to fruition in the New. Students will learn how applicable the Old Testament is to their current ministry setting and find avenues of application for their lives. Student learning will be evaluated based on weekly quizzes, a midterm and final exam, and a final exegetical paper.

Instructor

Dan TaylorBible 110 Instructor

Dan Taylor grew up in Northern Michigan. He played baseball at Grand Rapids Community College and later attended Eastern Michigan University where he studied mathematics and physics. He also earned his master’s degree in mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. He has lectured several math courses at Eastern Michigan. He has also spent over ten years in industry focused on artificial intelligence applications within autonomous vehicles and medicine. He is scheduled to finish his master’s degree in biblical studies from Moody Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2024. Dan and his wife have lived in metro-Detroit for over 15 years and have six children.
